…and so it begins…
Right, so the plan is to fly (from Manchester, England) to San Francisco, then drive for 90 days to the east coast, where i will fly back from JFK airport. so far, that’s about as far as i have got. oh, and i’m doing it the week after i graduate from university in the summer.
Obstruction.
The reason for summer. Taken on the Blairs East patio in Silver Spring, MD.
That’s a long rug. The fourth floor hallway of the Hotel Monaco, housed in the former General Post Office building, on the edge of the Chinatown neighborhood in DC.
Man of Stature. A 12” statue of President James Garfield on display at the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian Museum of American Art (they share a building).
The remedy for 90 degrees. A tasty bowl of strawberry-kiwi and mango lactose free frozen yogurt with toppings from FroZenYo in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of NW DC.
Seriously? I’m not sure what these drivers knew that I didn’t. But those white lines don’t mean “front wheels go here,” they designate a bike lane, which I believe it is unlawful to obstruct. But, there were two whole blocks of offenders on this stretch of G Street between 7th and 9th Streets NW across from the National Portrait Gallery, and there was nary a parking enforcement officer in sight.
NOTE: A commenter mentions that there was signage on the street allowing for this type of parking on Sundays. This is likely in order to provide extra parking for churches, kind of like how cars are allowed to park in the right lane on Sundays, reducing North Capitol to two lanes during my ride to work on that day of the week. Can you tell this irks me?
Nice backside. I’ve never been able to get so close to the Capitol before, I’d never noticed that there was a fountain or any greenery.
Rush hour. The Fourteenth Street bridge as seen from a yellow line metro train around 2 PM.
A Georgia Avenue Saturday night.
The stage.
